Janet Strang, Vice Chairperson of Cunninghame Housing Association presented a cheque for £1,200 to Explorer Scouts of Kilwinning.
The 19th Ayrshire Scout Group is based in Kilwinning and has over 150 members. Ages ranging from 6 years to 18 years old. The group activity encourages all members to try new opportunities. The group has a programme of informal education with an emphasis on practical outdoor activities. They enjoy camping, woodcraft, aquatics, hiking, backpacking and sports suitable for all ages so no one is left out.
3 Explorer Scouts; Alistair McBurnie, Calan Jaffrey and Alistair Ogilvie were chosen for the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea. The event is held every 4 years and is a huge achievement as it shows their hard work and determination. The funding is supporting the 3 Explorers with financial costs of training camps before the WSJ. The training camps will build up the Scouts in areas such as: communication, team building, teamwork and lifeskills.
The funding came from the “Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund”. It runs throughout the year (1st April to 31st March) until the funding is exhausted.
The Association are delighted to support Alistair, Calan and Alistair with their training camps preparation before the WSJ. We wish them the best of luck and are sure it will be an experience they will never forget.Janet Strang, Vice Chairperson of CHA
