Since 2017, the association has been working with Dumfries & Galloway Council and the Scottish Government as a development partner. We aim to deliver reasonable priced housing across the Dumfries & Galloway Region.

This successful work has achieved important results so far, with the next projects at various stages of delivery and end.

Housing investment has always had a big impact on communities. Sometimes we do not fully appreciate what the levels of Housing Investment in New Build Housing can achieve. During the next 4 years the Scottish Government & Dumfries and Galloway Council will invest £70 million within the area. This will give hundreds of new reasonable homes for applicants on the Common Housing Register. As a Registered Social Landlord, we will continue to deliver our successful partnering with them over this period.

Our ability to deliver in Dumfries & Galloway has been made possible by the support from our partner. This includes local councillors and MSP’s in all the wards we have and are working in.”

FRANK SWEENEY, Group Chief Executive, Cunninghame Housing Association

This space at Hallmeadow will give high quality homes within walking distance of the train station and local schools. This helps residents easily access the services they need on a day to day basis. We are all well aware of the spiralling living costs being experienced due to rising fuel and energy bills. Plus, growing demand through services like Homelessness and Housing Choices. Building on this scale, will ease some of this pressure on about 130 families, significantly improving their living areas.

Cunninghame have shown their clear commitment to creating new jobs and apprenticeships, giving opportunities for well paid, secure work. Employment and reasonable housing goes a long way to keeping working age people in, and attracting them to, our region. We know they are growing their staff base within the region, by also getting new jobs in the construction sector. I would like to thank Cunninghame Housing Association. They have shown their commitment to supporting Council goals. This is through the development in Annan, Lockerbie and Gretna, in terms of much-needed reasonable housing. I am excited to see more development projects like this.”

Cllr ARCHIE DRYBURGH MBE Housing Convener, Dumfries & Galloway Council

The Hallmeadow site started on site on 6th July 2020 and will deliver a total of 130 new homes. 69 properties have already been handed over so far and works scheduled to finish in October this year. The housing includes a mixture of two and three bedroom general needs houses. As well as 8 bungalows designed for amenity use and 5 wheelchair designed bungalows. Working together with Homes4D&G, all properties are being shared with applicants from the Common Housing Register.

The development will see us handing over the 300th new home that CHA has created since starting in 2017. The 300th new tenant Michelle Scaife will be receiving her keys today. Today is about celebrating this milestone in our activity since coming into the Region in 2017.

Michelle received her keys on 3 March 2022, and she has recently moved in with her family. We wish them every good wish in their new home.
