Alan Somerville, Senior Development Officer of Cunninghame Housing Association, gave a cheque for £1,000 to Club members David and Mary Mackie and George Shepherd, Committee member of Annan Petanque Club.

The Annan Petanque Club is a newly formed sports Club. They are devoted to building a pitch, store and equipment needed to give the facility of playing Petanque in Annan. The sport is truly for everyone as nobody is left out due to their age, gender and/or ability.

The money from Cunninghame Housing Association will help with the cost of the parts needed to build the pitch. The nearest pitch for people of Annan to use is in Moffat which is a sixty-mile round trip. Having one in Annan would encourage more people to play and would be locally based. So, benefiting people of any age and ability.

The funding for Annan Petanque came from the Associations “Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund” which operates throughout the year (1st April to 31st March) until the allocated funding is exhausted. “We are pleased to be supporting the newly formed Annan Petanque Club. It encourages people to play a sport where you are outside in the fresh air, exercising and being social.”

Frank Sweeney, Group Chief Executive of CHA
