John Kelly, Chairperson of Cunninghame Housing Association presented a cheque for £500 to Craig Crosthwaite, North Ayrshire Foodbank Coordinator. This will help to assist with the running costs of the Food Larder at the North Ayrshire Foodbank in Ardrossan. The Association donated a further £500 to another Food Larder that is based in the Whitlees Centre in Ardrossan.

Craig Crosthwaite, Coordinator of the N.A Foodbank said that Food Larders is a network developing across the Local Authority area. It is to address the needs of those who have limited resources as opposed to those who literally have nothing. The aim is to give households a “boost” to their weekly shop. An individual can become a member of the Larder. Paying roughly £4 (varying Larder to Larder) a week and can get around £12-£15 of food for their weekly membership. The aim is giving all members access to the same level of food.

The money for the Ardrossan Food Larders came from the Association’s “Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund”. It runs throughout the year (1st April 2021 to 31s March 2022)

Local Groups or individuals can find our more about the fund by clicking the link below or downloading the application form.

In today’s world it is important that everybody has access to food. Food Larders are helping to achieve this in their own way.
