Cunninghame Housing Association now have 2 large key sites in the town of Annan. Both are under construction and all together give 190 new reasonable houses for rent when finished. The sites are in Hallmeadow and Windermere Road.
Hallmeadow was bought from a local farmer and stands at a large 12.5 acres of developable land. The sale was paid in December 2017. The area will have 130 new build homes for rent in the area when finished.
Ashleigh Ltd, the contractor started in June 2020, as of August 2021, 24 of the 130 properties are now occupied. This includes a special adapted wheelchair bungalow. Due to the large size, the Association will finish and rent properties on a phase basis until September 2022.
A new main road connecting the streets of Hallmeadow Place and Elm Road is finished. People use Hallmeadow Place to get to their new homes; the workers use the Elm Road entrance for construction traffic. Elm Road was previously a single path road. It has now been opened up to the building area entrance. A new path is planned and will be formed to improve road safety for people walking beside the road. A SUDS sink has been formed to manage surface water and this is now formed and working.
Windermere Road was bought from the landowner in March 2018. The landowner is also a developer and will deliver the new houses. This is part of a Design & Build contract agreed with the Association and Anderson Joinery.
A total of 60 reasonable new homes for rent will be delivered when the development is finished. Works began in April 2019 and the first lot of 22 units were released before March 2021.As of mid-August 2021, 30 of the 60 properties were occupied by Association tenants. The overall project was split into two periods. The first, to the south, is now finished.
A new road which connects Turnberry Crescent to the south, and Windermere Road to the north is also nearing end. The road will help the flow of traffic through this new area.
