CHA Teams up with Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald to deliver Free News

The Association is backing an Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald campaign to give free newspapers to people in care homes. They will also be given to those who use North Ayrshire Foodbank.

The Association, which aims to ‘Make Communities Better Places’, is supporting the Ayrshire Weekly Press campaign. They will give news for free to those living in the frontline of this climate.

Frank Sweeney, Group Chief Executive Officer commented on this:

We were asked to sponsor the delivery of free newspapers to the most vulnerable in our society during this time. We thought it was a great idea for the association to get involved, by sponsoring this. It is hugely important for people to get information and have access to it. Most people in a nursing homes do not have access to the internet. A physical paper is such an important tool for them in receiving daily local information. That local feed of news is a lifeline to the community, those in care and in the current climate. For people who can’t easily get out like the elderly and people self-isolating it’s very important. Supporting this campaign to offer free copies to areas of the community is invaluable. Especially when care home staff are putting themselves at risk every day.

We’ve had our Financial Inclusion Officers pulling information together for our tenants and the wider area. We can’t offer free help to those who aren’t our tenants. However, regular updates and information posted on our website can be accessed by anyone seeking advice. This includes links to valuable information about benefit changes. Updates from the Scottish Government help to make sure that everyone has a source of information during this time.

If you are a Cunninghame Housing Association tenant, you can get free advice and support from our Financial Inclusion Officers.
