Ready to Move? What Your Bid Really Means
At CHA, we use a Choice Based Lettings (CBL) system – giving you more control over your housing options. But when you place a bid, you’re doing more than just expressing interest. You’re telling us three key things:
I am ready to move
I want to move to this property, in this location
I am available for contact from the landlord in the days following the advert closing
What Happens After You Bid?
We aim to contact the top bidder within 2–4 days of the bid closing. So if you’re position 1 out of 60, you’re likely to hear from us soon. On the other hand, if you’re position 50 out of 60, it’s unlikely your bid will be successful.
If you can’t be reached by phone or email after the advert closes, you’ll have 24 hours to get back to us. If we still don’t hear from you, your application will be bypassed—causing delays in the allocation process. Repeated missed contact could even lead to your banding being reviewed.
Changed your mind?
No problem. If you decide a property is no longer right for you, you can withdraw your bid at any time before the advert closes.
Choose Properties That Suit Your Needs
Make sure you only bid on properties that meet your needs:
- Enough bedrooms for your household
- Suitable for any medical requirements
Bidding on a home that’s similar to your current one or not appropriate for your needs will likely result in your application being overlooked.
Not Sure Where the Property Is??
We understand that Dumfries & Galloway covers a large geographical area. If you see a property you like but aren’t familiar with the location, please do your research beforehand or contact us with questions, especially if you don’t currently live in the area.
The Bottom Line
When you place a bid, you’re telling us: “I’m ready and willing to move imminently.”
So please be sure you’re serious, informed, and available—your next home might be just a successful bid away!
