Janet Strang, Chairperson of Cunninghame Housing Association recently presented a cheque for £1,000 to Aaran McDonald, Chairperson of Choose Kilwinning.

Choose Kilwinning are a community group which is made up of a mix of voluntary local business owners and members of the community – consisting of over 40 members at present. The group established themselves at the beginning of 2023 taking over the responsibility of organising this year’s Segdoune Gala (a historical annual event) and the Christmas event for the town as well as holding smaller events throughout the year.

Cunninghame Housing Association awarded the group funding to assist with this year’s winter event which is due to be held on Saturday 25th November 2023 in Kilwinning Main Street. The event will provide a fun filled evening with festive activities, a Christmas Market, and a visit from Santa amongst other activities.

The funding for Choose Kilwinning came from the Associations “Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund” which operates throughout the year (1st April to 31st March) until the allocated funding is exhausted.

“We are delighted to be able to support this voluntary group with the cost of arranging such a great event for the local community of Kilwinning, especially at this time of year. This event will provide many with some Christmas cheer!”

Janet Strang, CHA Chairperson

“We are proud of our ongoing partnership with Cunninghame Housing Association, its board, and staff. This donation will be vital in making sure our plans for the Kilwinning Light Up Festival can go ahead and become a staple event of the town calendar.”
