The festive season was warmly welcomed with open arms as the North West Bowling Club became the hub for an afternoon of sheer delight on Friday, 8th December 2023. The Christmas tea dance, tailored for the wonderful older tenants of Kilmarnock, was a celebration filled with music, dance, and a shared spirit of community.
Led by the talented musician Johnny Deans, the atmosphere was set aglow with vibrant Christmas melodies, inviting everyone to sway, tap, and dance along. The playlist of cherished Christmas songs added an extra sparkle to the air, spreading joy and cheer amongst the attendees.
The afternoon unfolded with a spirited dance session, where everyone embraced the joy of the season. From the traditional elegance of the Dashing White Sergeant to the lively moves of the Canadian Barn Dance, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Following the lively dance session, a festive buffet awaited. Attendees indulged in hot soup and sandwiches, perfectly complementing the lively ambiance of the event.
The excitement continued with a thrilling game of bingo, where Lady Luck graced some fortunate participants with fabulous prizes. The winners walked away with a variety of gifts, including a Christmas hamper, an air fryer generously donated by LemonAid, and white goods contributed by Cunninghame Furniture Recycling Company. Cozy warm clothing and blankets were also distributed, adding extra warmth to the holiday season
Amidst the festivities, the event also aimed to provide practical support and guidance to the community. Financial advice and energy-saving tips were shared by our dedicated Financial Inclusion Officer, as well as representatives from Cunninghame Furniture Recycling Company and LemonAid. Their insightful guidance aimed to assist individuals in navigating the winter season with greater ease and comfort.
The Christmas Tea Dance wasn’t just a celebration; it was a testament to the strength of community spirit and the joy found in coming together. It showcased the power of support, sharing, and creating moments of happiness for everyone involved.
