On Monday 16th January 2023 Lesley Keenan, Chairperson of Cunninghame Housing Association presented a cheque for £1,000 to Kieran Walker, a young gymnast from Dalry, which is his 2nd year of a 3-year sponsorship award.
Kieran is 16 years of age and has been a gymnast for over 10 years, currently training 3 times a week after College at Inverclyde in Largs as well as taking part in many competitions across the UK and further afield. Kieran is part of a Team which have previously been Scottish Champions, first competing in 2019.
Over the past year Kieran has been busy competing as part of a newly formed Team in several competitions in June and October 2022, coming 3rd in both events which is a great achievement. As well as training and competing, Kieran has completed his Level 1 Coaching training to enable him to teach and encourage others in the sport. Going forward, Kieran and his Team will be competing for the Northern Qualifiers and then hopefully the British Championships.
The funding for Kieran came from the Associations “Making Our Communities Better Places Fund” which operates throughout the year (1st April to 31st March) until the allocated funding is exhausted.
The Association are delighted to support Kieran on his sporting journey of being a gymnast and helping achieve his full potential in a sport that he loves!Lesley Keenan, Chairperson of CHA
