On Thursday 1st December 2022 Lesley Keenan, Chairperson of Cunninghame Housing Association presented a cheque for £1,000 to Alan Cook, Volunteer and George Allan, Chairperson of Mauchline Community Council.
Mauchline Community Council is a small group of volunteers nominated from the community, by the community, to support and challenge the activities of East Ayrshire on its effects and benefits for Mauchline. In addition, it oversees the activities of many community groups, organisations and activities. The Community Council solely relies on donations and fund-raising activities, not only for its own projects but for that of many in the community. The groups most recent project is assisting with the preparation of displaying the Christmas lights and ensuring the ‘Christmas Lights Switch On’ goes to plan.
The funding provided by Cunninghame Housing Association has helped to fund the cost of the work involved to display the Christmas lights and then safe removal of the lights at the end of the season.
“the Association are delighted to be supporting the community of Mauchline by assisting with their Christmas light display, brightening up the town and spreading some festive cheer”.Lesley Keenan, Chairperson of CHA.
The funding for Mauchline Community Council came from the Associations “Making Our Communities Better Places Fund” which operates throughout the year (1st April to 31st March) until the allocated funding is exhausted.
Please note that the funds for this year are exhausted and application forms will be accepted again from April 2023.
