Janet Strang, Chairperson of Cunninghame Housing Association recently presented a cheque for £1,000 to Holly Flynn, a young Judo athlete from North Ayrshire.
Holly is 15 years old and has been taking part in Judo from the age of 9 years old starting off at Irvine Judo Club and is now a member of the Pro-Judo Club, training 4 times a week in Glasgow. Holly also travels to Edinburgh to train at Judo Scotland in Ratho, Edinburgh.
Holly is currently number one in Britain for her age and weight category and is also proud to be part of the Scotland Squad for Judo Scotland. Recently, due to Holly’s commitment to the sport, she has been selected to take part in many training camps and competitions taking place both in the UK and abroad in places such as Belgium and Luxembourg.
The funding provided by Cunninghame Housing Association is supporting Holly with the ever-increasing costs involved in attending training camps and competing in competitions. By taking part in these – it provides Holly with so much more opportunity to build her confidence and excel in her sport.
The funding for Holly Flynn came from the Associations “Making Our Communities Better Places Fund” which operates throughout the year (1st April to 31st March) until the allocated funding is exhausted.
We are delighted to be supporting Holly with the financial costs involved in her chosen sport, providing her with more opportunity and hopefully encouraging more young people to take up such a sport.Janet Strang, Chairperson, CHA
