Alan Somerville, Senior Development Officer of Cunninghame Housing Association recently presented a cheque for £500 to Siobhan Webster, Yard Manager of Mossburn Community Farm.

Mossburn Community Farm is primarily an animal rescue charity however they also positively impact the local community and provide a considerable public benefit, such as opening daily for visitors aiming to provide education regarding good animal husbandry and welfare; providing a centre/facility for volunteers of all ages/abilities to learn high standards of animal care; providing work experience opportunities to local schoolchildren, young people with special learning needs, veterinary students and anyone needing to gain skills/knowledge to prepare them for the workplace.

Funding was provided by Cunninghame Housing Association to assist with the ongoing operational costs (veterinary care) which is essential in having happy, healthy animals and supporting the community farm with its aim of providing such an invaluable service.

The funding for Mossburn Community Farm came from the Associations “Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund” which operates throughout the year (1st April to 31st March) until the allocated funding is exhausted.

The costs of caring for the animals have never been higher and we are fighting a constant battle to raise funds so we are hugely grateful for this amount from Cunninghame Housing Association”.

SIOBHAN WEBSTER, Yard Manager
