Permission Request Forms

This guide will let you know what you need permission for (with conditions) and what you do not need permission for. This list is not exhaustive, please contact the housing team on 0800 468 360 or at housing@chaltd.org for further information.

You do not need permission for:
Internal decoration, including plastering, wet wall and wall tiles.
External window/door painting which must be consistent with existing paintwork.
Hanging baskets, garden shrubs/vegetables/flowers.
Hardwood/laminate flooring/floor tiles, shower screens or wall mounted tv’s – however these remain your responsibility and may need to be removed if moving out.

Permission will NOT BE GIVEN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES to:
Carry out structural works including loft conversions, loft flooring, erecting partition walls, removing walls.
Wrap or paint kitchen units/worktops.
Upgrading heating systems/removing radiators.
Extend fence height.
Install front fencing in ‘open plan development’.
Plant trees near the building.
Install log/wood burners.
Remove pass doors.

Permission is needed ‘with conditions’ for the following:
Shed, summer house, storage units.
Clothes poles/rotary dryers
Hot tubs
External taps
External electric socket, electric supply to shed/summer house, electric car charging point.
Rear boundary fencing/trellis fencing/partial privacy panels
Driveways
Slabs/bark/stone chips/decking/artificial grass
Replace internal pass doors/facings/skirtings/banisters.
Replace light fittings/sockets/switches.
Install security alarm, CCTV, camera doorbell, security lights, locks.
Re-locate radiators/install remote heating controllers.
Replace bathrooms, shower over bath, mixer/lever taps, wet floor coverings.
Replace/remove kitchen units, mixer/lever taps, cooker hoods, worktops, breakfast bars.
Satellite dishes – permission will not be given to install on properties built after 2010.
Broadband/fibre cables

New Build Properties – within the first year ‘defects’ period, permission will be given ‘with conditions’ for:
Shed, summer house, storage units.
Slabs/bark/stone chips/decking/artificial grass (rear only)
External taps
Security alarms, CCTV, camera doorbells, security lights, locks. security lights
Hanging baskets/external wall art etc.

Alteration, Permission and Notification Forms

Notification of Deceased Tenant

Tenancy Termination Form

To initiate the tenancy termination process, complete our webform with relevant info about your tenancy. This will help us promptly process your request and ensure a smooth transition for all parties involved.

Assignation Of Tenancy

To notify us about the assignation of tenancy, please provide details via our webform. This will help us to update our records and ensure a seamless continuation of the tenancy under the new arrangement.

Joint Tenancy Application

For joint tenancy applications, we encourage all applicants to use our webform to submit their collective information and preferences. This will facilitate a streamlined review process by our team, and help us efficiently assess your application for the desired housing association property.

Succession Of Tenancy Application

If you’re seeking to apply for succession of tenancy, please use our webform to provide the necessary details and supporting documentation. This will enable us to review your application promptly and ensure a smooth transition of tenancy as per the housing association’s guidelines.

Lodger Application Form

For lodging arrangement applications, kindly complete our webform with the required information to initiate the process. Your submission will help us assess the suitability of the lodger arrangement and ensure compliance with the housing association’s policies.

Permission To Reside Application

To request permission to reside under specific circumstances, please use our webform to provide detailed information about your situation. This will assist us in evaluating your application and ensuring that it aligns with the housing association’s guidelines and regulations.

Sublet Application Form

If you intend to submit a sublet application, you can use our webform with all relevant details regarding the sublet arrangement. This will enable us to assess your request in accordance with the housing association’s policies and facilitate a smooth process.

Keep a Pet Application Form

If you’re interested in keeping a pet within our housing community, please use our webform to provide the necessary information about your pet and your living situation. This will help us evaluate your request in line with the housing association’s pet policy.

Satellite Application & Declaration

To apply for satellite installation permission, please use our webform to provide details about your intended satellite setup. This will enable us to review your request and ensure compliance with the housing association’s guidelines for satellite installations.

Park A Caravan Application Form

If you need to park a caravan within our premises, please use our webform to provide the necessary information regarding the caravan and your parking preferences. Your submission will help us evaluate your request in accordance with the housing association’s policies.

Operate A Business Application Form

If you’re considering running a business, please fill in our form with detailed info re: your business proposal. This helps us check impact on the community and make sure it’s in line with the association’s rules for businesses.

Alteration Request Form

To ask for approval for changes to your property, fill in our webform to give details about the proposed changes. This will help us look at your application in line with the housing association’s guide. We can make sure that any alterations maintain the integrity and safety of the property.

Driveway Construction Request Form

To ask for approval for constructing your own driveway fill in our webform to give details about the proposed construction.
