On Wednesday 20th July 2022 both Frank Sweeney, Group Chief Executive and John Kelly, Chairperson of Cunninghame Housing Association presented a cheque for £1,000 to June McGuire, Committee member of the Tapend Larder in Stevenston.
The Tapend Food Larder operates from the Haycocks Hall in Stevenston on a Monday and Thursday and is run by the Stevenston North Community Association. The Larder opened in May 2021 and has 2 voluntary members running it at present. It is recognised as a much-needed service and provides a crucial lifeline to families and individuals who are experiencing food poverty.
The community Association is committed to helping the local community in the North of Stevenston giving residents the opportunity to make their money go further by giving them access to a Food Larder which is a fraction of the cost of going elsewhere. The funding provided by Cunninghame Housing Association is supporting the Larder to replenish stock and assist with the week to week running costs.
“We are thrilled to be able to provide financial assistance to another meaningful service within the three towns and support local people through which is proving to be such hard times for many”.John Kelly, Chairperson of CHA
The funding for The Tapend Food Larder came from the Associations “Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund” which operates throughout the year (1st April to 31st March) until the allocated funding is exhausted.
