On 26th May 2021 Leader of the Council, Councillor Joe Cullinan carried out an official ceremony. This marks the start of Cunninghame Housing Associations new build project at West Byrehill, Kilwinning.
Work on site began on 12th April 2021 and the overall contract period is 95 weeks.
McTaggart Construction are the main contractors and is who are based in Dalry. They will deliver the works under a design and build contract. A total of 72 new homes are being built, predominantly 2 and 3 bedroom houses. 8 bungalows are designed for older people and 3 bungalows are designed specifically for wheelchair users.
The total development costs £11.8 million. The project has benefited from £6.351 million in Housing Association award from the Scottish Government.
Councillor Joe Cullinane said “I am delighted to see the construction of this new housing development here in Kilwinning. It will give 72, first-class new homes including 8 unique bungalows.
Recently there has been a demand for homes designed to meet the needs of older residents and those with disabilities. Therefore, it is reassuring to know that NAC and CHA, are working to address this and deliver for the people.”
